Abstract
The primary goal of endodontic therapy is the long-term retention of a functional tooth by preventing or treating apical periodontitis. Minimally invasive endodontics aims to preserve the maximum of tooth structure during endodontic therapy. For this reason the design of many recent instruments has been inspired by a minimally invasive philosophy. The topic is still controversial and the concept is accounted responsible for a less efficacious disinfection. This review addresses current clinical and laboratory date to provide an overview of the new endodontic paradigm.
